Pearls Before Yirmumah

A guest comic at Yirmumah mashes up D.J. Coffman's current storyline with the now somewhat distant coincidence between a Yirmumah strip and a Pearls Before Swine strip. Here's an old comic with D.J.'s take on that coincidence - not sure if PBS creator Stephan Pastis ever commented on it.

Coffman is still taking guest comic submissions until Halloween.

When this situation first came about, I didn't think that Pastis consciously cribbed one of D.J.'s jokes, but I thought that Pastis could've handled the situation better.

Anyways, the guest comic that I did --for the record -- wasn't meant as an attack on P.B.S. or its creator (as I like that comic, and keep it in my bookmarks). I figured that long-time Yir-fans might get a chuckle out of it.

Yeah, that strip actually got me kicked out of the private "pro" comic strippers forum after I refused to remove it from my site. Pastis, a lawyer, wanted my phone number to discuss the situation, but I hate talking to lawyers. They can all keep living in their little fantasy land where webcomics don't matter.

I was only conveying my feelings back then... it was probably a coincidence?? Although, a later PBS strip seemed to be pretty close to a Theater Hopper series of strips.

Hard to Tell

You know honestly I think it's hard to tell - sometimes it's a coincidence, sometimes there's probably some copying going on. Unless you know the FULL story on all sides it might be hard to sort out. People who actually sue each other over this stuff - it's usually messy to sort out from what I understand.
