The winner of Best Newcomer is a tie between
Errant Story by Michael Poe, and
Anne Frank Conquers The Moon Nazis by Bill Mudron.
(Bill drew the cover for this month's Comixpedia issue)
And the winner of Best Gaming Comic is
Penny Arcade by Mike Krahulik & Jerry Holkins.

It's a good point. The award should be for new "people" who have had their first "publication" that year (I'm sure there could be a reasonable way to define first publication that would work).
Not completely sure Bill would be a newcomer under that definition though... Bill?

Yeah, Anne's the first thing i've ever published online (well, aside from the crude crayola-rendered drawings of female genitalia that are plastered all over my Livejournal, that is.)
Eh, i'm not too worried about this, though. Like they say, "it's an honor just to be nominated".

Can you really call Michael Poe a newcomer? His Errant Story comic may be new, but he did Explotation Now, which ended some time ago.
That should be for webcartoonists who are new in the past year.
