Sin Tutulo by Cameron Stewart is a recent webcomic (only 8 pages so far) by an artist better known for his print comics (such as working with Grant Morrison). A "professional" doing a webcomic is something we see more and more of as time passes. A chance to write own’s on story? Freedom? Who knows, but Stewart is off to an excellent start. So far the story involves a young man who goes to visit his grandfather at a nursing home and discovers he has passed away. Of course, something mysterious is going on, involving a picture of an unfamiliar young woman with his grandfather and suspicious staff at the home. Nothing spectacularly original at this point but interesting.
The art, with its chunky black lines and tan tone, is extremely attractive and reminiscent of David Mazzuchelli’s work with distinctive characters and expressive faces as well as fine compositions. He’s paced out his pages skillfully, ending them with the reader knowing the story is moving forward and opening up further avenues. It’s on a weekly serialization, so that is important. This is one to watch, hopefully Stewart’s writing can keep up with his drawing. This is a welcome addition to my regular reading.
