Creature Feature Comics Site Coming Soon

CreatureFeatureComics dot com will feature science fiction and horror-themed webcomics. No word yet on a potential launch date, but they are currently interested in submissions for limited and ongoing series.

CreatureFeatureComics.com is now taking submissions for completed graphic novels and mini series with one or two issues already completed; in addition, we are looking for ongoing series in longform and comic-strip format.

The stories should be in the creature feature/chiller theater mode. Stories that chill the nerves, tingle the spine, and tickle the funny bone as well. Send us an email at submissions@creaturefeaturecomics.com introducing yourself (no attachments to email please). Include a brief plot description, number of issues per series (or how often it will be updated, if a strip), number of pages per graphic novel, and a link to the comic’s site or artwork from the proposed project.

  1. This has a lot of potential. Subscription-based, I’m guessing (?)

The more flowers, the more bees, the more bees, the more flowers. Glad to see somebody new jumping into the “industry”! Good luck!

  2. Zip mention of business plan so far on their site.

I sincerely hope they have one and that they intend to pay the artists.

  3. Yipes they are currently hosted on an “unlimited bandwidth” shared hosting plan. Those unlimited bandwidth deals are usually very limited in reality. If they have any success at all they may have some significant growing pains.

  4. Well, to be fair, MT didn’t have the most perfect hosting setup when it started, either (we went down for a full day during launch week because of that mistake).

The lack of information about a business plan, and especially the fact that no information is readily available about how and even if the cartoonists will be paid, is kind of wary-making, though.

  5. The only thing to worry about “unlimted bandwidth” is that in fact it’s never unlimited. Even if you own a dedicated server of your own – you still have to have bandwidth. No one actually sells bandwidth without some limit.

Well not unless you’re buying a dark fiber IRU but somehow I doubt we have webcomics at that level yet 🙂

  6. I’m looking forward to the site. Please give us an update as you get closer to launch!

  7. Howdy, Howdy. Chad from CreatureFeatureComics here.

I’m glad to see word of mouth and BB’s have gotten us on Comixpedia so early in our inception. We feel honored. =)

Just to make the fact known, and I shortly replied to the call out for subs on the bb’s we tagged stating a rough outline of the business plan, and that creators will be paid, in addition to a Creator Incentive Plan. A comic inevitably has the potential to outgrow a mass subscription business model. But hopefully with the Creator Incentive, they will outgrow the model, but not CFC.

I’d like to appologize first hand to the webcomics community for causing any doubt in our service or character, I just had no idea we’d be passed around so quickly! I’m working on the site programming and projected launch of a full fledged site is sometime next week. =0)

CreatureFeatureComics is somthing I’ve wanted to do for a long, long, long time. I’m giving it a go with a group of creators that blow me away on a daily basis with their work and dedication. I’m very proud to be the publisher of such great talent. Let’s rock n’ roll.

And the “unlimited bandwidth” shared server thing…well, I own it, I might as well use it, right?

    Thanks!

  8. And thanks for your kind words, Joey. It feels good to hear it from one of the veterans of webcomics.

  9. Nah, no Dark Fiber IRU or anything like that. Yeah there is a bandwidth “limit”, but I can tell you I have generous slack when it comes to gracing the core server limit. And when that hurdle comes, we can jump it. =0)
