Hi! I’m one of your guest bloggers for this week. My name is Reinder Dijkhuis, creator of Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan and co-creator of White House in Orbit, along with several other longer or shorter running webcomics projects. In addition to those things I have a monthly page in a children’s magazine in the Netherlands, I give cartooning workshops at schools in and around my home town of Groningen, The Netherlands, and I have created a digital exhibit of webcomics for the comics museum located in that very same city.
My involvement with webcomics started as early as 1994, when a friend at University invited me to stick some comics on his website, so I suppose that’s my claim to pioneer status, veteran status and possibly dinosaur status. Back then, I had no idea what I was doing, so I don’t really count that early version as part of my own webcomicking history. Between 1996 and 2000 I would post poorly-scanned versions of my autobiographical and alternative comics work on my personal website, but it wasn’t until July 1, 2000 that I started to take this web cartooning thing seriously as a form of publishing in its own right. That’s the date I consider the official birthdate of Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan as a webcomic, meaning that last Saturday was my sixth anniversary.
At this point, you may wonder why I’m filling up Comixpedia space talking about myself. I just wanted to test this blogging system a bit before going ahead with proper Comixpedia stories. Also, I’ve been working like a slave over the past seven days, in increasingly sweltering heat, and I’m a bit worried that when my actual guest week starts, I’ll be unable to do anything more exciting than lie on a beach somewhere. So, this is me showing my face. I just might show up again.
