Girlamatic.com Editor Lisa Jonte writes that she will not be having a submission period for the site this Spring. Along with the announcement she provides some advice for interested applicants (there apparently willl be a submission period in the Fall).

All of this is very familar to webcomic artists – it’s all about trying to understand how an artist can make a living from their work and whether these Internet-enabled times are the best of.. or the worst of times for the artist.
A related story from TechDirt explores whether the era of the amateur blogger is over — as blogging has grown many of the most popular bloggers have "quit their day jobs" not unlike the growth curve we’ve seen with webcomics over the last 5-10 years.

The Scienteers team up with Vincent Ouroboros for a video presentation on "webcomics" which is actually pretty funny. The guy playing the "narrator" (aka Vincent Ouroboros) has the right voice for the mock-Masterpiece Theater vibe but doesn’t quite look the part.
Gary has 99% positive praise for the new How To Make Webcomics book from the four horsemen of the Halfpixelypse. I haven’t seen a less-then-sterling review so far so I’m guessing if you’re interested in making webcomics this is a book you want for your shelf where you put books.
I still need to order a copy but I’ve been paralyzed by indecision over which of the four authors to order it from!
T Campbell has a post up about writing which has some good practical advice for crafting words as well as working with an artist.
James Turner is too busy being awesome I guess and put up a contest to be the guest artist for Beaver and Steve for a month. I thought, hey I love Beaver & Stever and while I probably won’t "win" anything it’ll be a good exercise to try and draw the comic for the contest. So here’s my first shot.

Been really busy this year. Worked on several projects. Some include the Webcomic related sites Comixtalk, PVP, Looking For Group, Least I Could Do and CAD the Series. Still working on a few more as well as the new version of ComicPress… 2.5, due out within the next week or so and it is going to rock for those trying to customize the layout.
My own comic, Wally & Osborne, has taken a back seat unfortunately. But I’m working to start it back up again soon with a new look and a new site. Even so the comic has been renewed to run another year at Funbrain, alongside Silent Kimbly and NY Times Bestseller Diary of A Wimpy Kid. The new comics will be appearing there soon as well.
