The Return of Todd & Penguin

Dave Wright’s Todd and Penguin is back from an unannounced semi-hiatus with a special mystery guest artist penning new strips for the next month. The comic, which returned last week is kicking things off with a contest. The first eight people to guess who the mystery artist is and email the strip’s creator, David Wright (email link found at website), will get a free autographed original comic drawn by the mystery artist. Winners and the mystery artist will be revealed at the end of March.

Todd and Penguin has been in limbo since last summer, when Wright lost his job as a newspaper reporter and editorial cartoonist thanks to major cutbacks at the paper he worked at. Updates were sporadic at best as Wright concentrated on his ongoing job search and blogging at his parenting/humor site, www.bloggerdad.com.

“I was thrilled when the mystery artist contacted me,” said Wright, “and proposed the month-long stint. This is one of my favorite artists and I’m thrilled at their treatment of my characters.”

In January, Wright re-launched his other strip, the cynical Taking Up Space, at his comic blog, www.IDrawComics.com.

Todd and Penguin launched on the web in November 2000 and has appeared on KeenSpot.com since 2005. The comic has also appeared in print in a few smaller market and college papers and in book form in 2006’s Todd and Penguin: Embrace Your Inner Dork.
