Self-Organizing Webcomics Directory

Half the challenge of being a fan of webcomics is finding webcomics. There are a number of good directories of webcomics, some more inclusive and some more selective but all ultimately edited by one or a select group of people. Check out the Wikipedia for a list of webcomics that can be edited by anyone. I just added my own effort.

There is also a growing entry on the medium of webcomics itself. The nature of a wiki site is that anyone can make any term on it link to a new entry. I just added one to Comixpedia. For better or worse all of you can also go edit the entry on Comixpedia.

  1. God dammit. Why does Comixpedia log me out randomly? That was me.

  2. Incidentally, I did. They’re gone. Somebody later came through and deleted all of the entries that linked to nonexistent articles on webcomics.

From now on, please do not add entries to the Wikipedia List of Webcomics unless there is already an article for the comic. That does not preclude you from writing an article on the comic first (although writing an article about your own comic may be considered WikiSpam)…but remember that articles do need to be encyclopedic: if a comic is not particularly popular, or well-known, or influential, it probably doesn’t deserve an article.

  3. You know, the Wikipedia “List of…” articles are supposed to be lists of links to articles in a certain category. Wikipedia is not a link repository.

I have half a mind to delete all of the entries in there that do not link to Wikipedia articles. It’s bordering on WikiSpam at the moment.
