The Sony Reader

The Beat notes the Sony Reader, “an electronic book that displays pages on a high-def e-paper that can be viewed even in bright sunlight”, that is being shown at this years Consumer Electronics Show. Apparently manga is being used to showcase its readability. It has enough built in memory to hold 80 full length books and also handles memorysticks. Its size is reported as a 6.9” by 4.9” by .5”,8 making it a rather handy size.
It’s hardly a killer product for webcomics though. Not only does it appear that all books has to be bought through a dedicated online store, it only supports four levels of grayscale according to its website. Still, who knows what we’ll see later this year in this field.
