Foglio’s Girl Genius Goes Online

Yesterday, Phil and Kaja Foglio’s Girl Genius debuted online. The comic was previously published in print as a periodical and graphic novel from 2000. The current plan appears to be to serialize it on the web as well as collect it in graphic novel form.

The Girl Genius FAQ describes the comic as:

Girl Genius is an ongoing “gaslamp fantasy” story by Phil and Kaja Foglio. It started out in 2000 as a periodical comic book, which is collected into three (and counting) larger volumes. Girl Genius follows the career of Agatha Heterodyne—a hapless student at Translyvania Polygnostic University who discovers that she has more going for her than she thought.

The comic will keep a M/W/F update schedule with two stories currently updating simultaneously.

Girl Genius is nominated for the Eisner awards in the category Best Writer/Artist – Humor, which pits it against, among others, Scott Kurtz’ PvP.
