Lone Star State a continuing dramatic series begins again on Monday after a two month hiatus. Lonnie Allen had taken time off from the series to publish Wonder World online.
Lone Star State is both an experiment in both narrative and artistic rendering styles. The story follows Tyrone, a teenage football player during 1989 in a small west Texas town. There is racial tension boiling beneath the surface of the usual backdrop high school angst as a romance begins to surface. All the characters involved learn more about themselves those around them. There are multiple views and motivations working at times congruently, while at other times, against each other. If you haven’t read Lone Star State, take the time to do so. The series has been described as, “a very effective story about the horrors of high school, throwing us into it right from the first page, then pulling back without ever letting the tension ease.”
