The free content includes the entire sixteen-page story, “Lucky Kiss,” as well as four of the illustrated poems that we published in August. Picture Story Theatre is written by Alexander Danner (“The Discovery of Spoons,” “Five Ways to Love a Cockroach“) and illustrated by Bill Duncan (“Japanimation Fist,” “Monster Hollow“).

Picture Story Theatre already offers two completely free stories: the 22-page original fable, “The Little Bear Who Knew Fear,” and the 12-page ghost story, “The Unusual Education of Suzy Finnegan.” With the addition of the new material, Picture Story Theatre now offers 53 free sample pages, including three complete stories.
Our latest story, “Young Love vs. The Shambling Monster,” which builds on characters who first appeared in “Asleep: The Afternoon Passes,” “The Unusual Education of Suzy Finnegan,” and “Lucky Kiss,” introduces Paul Marconi, a young boy with a big crush. Before he can pursue love, however, Paul will have to face the trials of an abusive father, not to mention the fact that his only friend in the world happens to be the ghost of a dead boy.
Like all the preceding stories in the unofficially titled “Kinderverse” series, “Young Love vs. The Shambling Monster” can stand on its own as a self-contained story, but provides an even richer experience for readers familiar with all the stories. The stories all take place on a single day, each following the tribulations of a different member of the same elementary school class. Each new story sheds new light on previous stories, as the children’s lives become increasingly interconnected.
“Young Love vs. The Shambling Monster” will run for a total of 33 episodes, making it the longest and most ambitious installment in the series thus far.
