ConnectiCon July 16-18, 2004 Web Comic Invitation

ConnectiCon 2004 will be held on the University of Hartford campus in West Hartford, CT from July 16th to 18th. Currently slated to appear are: Sluggy Freelance, Ctrl-Alt-Del, RPG World, VG Cats, ScaryGoRound, Dominic Deegan, Diesel Sweeties, Questionable Content, EXE-World, Studio Splurd, Instant Classic, Staccato Comic and Partially Clips.

ConnectiCon is offering an open invitation to all webcomic creators to attend. We have received interest from quite a few other web comics and have yet to confirm with them their attendance at this time. Our goal is to have 30 to 50 web comics in attendance at this year’s ConnectiCon 2004. Scott Kurtz at Sci-Fi Convention This Weekend

Scott Kurtz of PVP will be making an appearance at the SCI FI EXPO FAN APPRECIATION DAY this Saturday, April 17 at the Richardson Civic Center (admission is FREE). Kurtz has more details on his webiste:

Comic Awareness Week

The Lansing Community College (LCC) Comics Coalition (LC4) and Michigan Web Comics presents COMIC AWARENESS WEEK, an event which will kick off on June 27th and continue through July 3rd, FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. The week will feature events on the LCC campus including guest speakers from various branches of the comics industry, such as artists, publishers and non-profit comic organizations.

Comics Awareness Week is a non-profit, grass roots movement to help dispel the myths that currently deter potential readers of comic books, raise awareness of comics as literature and art, explore the potential of comics as an educational tool and establish Sequential Arts as a respectable and desirable career option for future generations. Chris Daily Recaps the A.P.E. 2004 Convention

When I attended the 2003 San Diego Comic-Con, I barely even saw one third of the things there. The lines were too long, the pretzels were too expensive, and the Stormtroopers were too plentiful. So naturally, walking around the 2004 Alternative Press Expo on February 22nd was a breath of fresh air.

Raw, edgy, up and coming artists were pimping their latest projects harder than used car salesmen. People could walk around the entire floor several times in the course of the day, talk with their favorite artists, and even attend panels with certain creators. Continue Reading
