Webcomic Asylum: Reviews, news, interviews, and cholesterol free!

Hi, I have a site called webcomics asylum, where I review smaller webcomics and the occasional big one. Witness my mediocre writing style, get chills at my choice of mascot(a chimp), take polls, and generally just enjoy the content! Thanks!

Rare Bill Watterson art

Unshelved's Blog has a link to some rare glimpses at Bill Watterson's early college paper comics, as well as some of his political cartoons, and various other stuff you probably haven't seen before. As he says, look now, because chances are it's not going to be up for long.

Handmade Phone-Made Comics

Fun all-ages comics made entirely from a cell phone.

For three days in a row this week, the long running family comic series "Silly Daddy" will post webcomics created totally on a small screen Pocket PC Verizon 6700 Phone. These comics appear as is and have not been edited, optimized or tweaked in any desktop art programs. This is a mobile phone first for Xeric Award winning cartoonist Joe Chiappetta and most other comics on the net. Check it out at http://www.sillydaddy.net

YHT Original Art Sale!

Art Sale!!!! . . .

I need a new computer. My Dell Dimension 4500 has served me well these past few years, but he's become increasingly slow and loud. I've upgraded the RAM and I've blown his insides out with canned air, but he's still a little noisy and sluggish. I think it's time to retire him from battle and let him be a "homework" or "net surfing" machine for some kid out there.

Animated Silly Daddy

Silly Daddy AnimationThe first ever Silly Daddy animated cartoon is complete.

This entire short movie was done in the Chiappetta studio by Silly Daddy and his built-in team of child laborers working for under minimum wage. See for yourself.

Authorship killed The Family Circus For Me

I will never look at Snoopy the same way again. Or Calvin and Hobbes, or even Garfield. They have all been ruined for me. Not ruined, but rather changed. Disfigured, you could say.

Learn to Draw!

When I first started Todd and Penguin, I drew about as well as a blind epileptic with hooks for hands. While I still have a long way to go to say, be as good as Phil Cho or Kazu Kibuishi, I have improved with tons of practice.

So, for those who are like me, and weren't blessed with loads of natural talent, you may want to spend some time learning from some of these free art tips online at http://dev.drawspace.com/
