On March 20th, London sees the first dedicated web and
mini comix event ever held in the UK, possibly even the
world. More details at www.ukwebcomixthing.co.uk.
There will be over 36 featured stands and over 60 exhibitors
with comix ranging from new web based comix to long running
traditional format work; all home grown and creator driven.
As well as exposing a veritable wealth of talent for the
general public, there are a host of other attractions.
There’s a computer workshop where newbies are introduced
to getting a web comic together. Portfolio workshops enable
existing creators to get some feedback from industry veterans
on improving their art. Also there will be a best web and
mini comix competition open to all, and a count the pages
competition, all offering cash prizes. There’ll also be
live internet access and the highly acclaimed Worlds Table
which presents similar work from around the world from
creators who couldn’t be there on the day…
The event starts at 9 a.m. and finishes at 6 p.m.
The event is taking place at the Octagon, Mile End
Road, Stepney, London, E1 4NS, nearest tube Stepney
Green. doors open at 9am and shut at 6pm. Costs £4
on the door, £3 in advance.
I intend on showing my face. I think. Anyone else?
