CD-Romix: Electronic Publisher of Comics

CD-Romix sells comic books in CD-Rom format, I think. Actually, it’s slightly unclear because nowhere on the site that I can find does it specify the format of the comics you might purchase there. The site describes itself:

CD-Romix is an electronic publishing company designed by artists for artists as a more feasible alternative for them to publish their work.

So far, you can purchase issue 1 and 2 of a comic entitled “27” by Dan Jaaren. All in all it looks like a promising new entrant to the online comics marketplace. Continue Reading

Aquaman #1 Goes Online!

DC Comics has announced that its hugely popular book, Aquaman #1, will be presented online at DCComics.com.

Following its release in December, the first issue of the new AQUAMAN series quickly sold out at DC. Now, readers can catch up on the beginning of the Sea King’s new adventures at DCComics.com, where the entire story from the first issue has been posted as an Adobe Acrobat file.

Copyright protection, URL’s and web comics

A recent article in Econtent covers the case of a Dilbert fan who created an unofficial Dilbert webpage using official Dilbert strips.

“Wallach, an avid fan of the Dilbert comic strips, found the layout of United Media’s Official Dilbert Web site ‘really lame’. And so, taking it upon himself to offer the world a better layout, he linked—the better to skirt the copyright issue—directly to United Media’s Web server. He called his creation The Dilbert Hack Page.

“‘It didn’t take long for UM’s lawyers to come knocking. ‘Thank you for your enthusiasm,’ they wrote. “However, this material is copyrighted by United Feature Syndicate, Inc.'” Continue Reading

It’s Dr Vivisectus versus Dr. Madblood!

Who doesn’t love a good cross-over between webcomics? Well I do and I suspect more than a few more do. Maybe it comes from a youth spent reading comic books where there was always a chance Batman would team up with Superman or Spiderman might try to get a date with the Black Canary (alright I’m pretty sure the latter never happened). I haven’t had a chance to create a new topic icon for this category yet, but we’ll be happy to post news regarding cross-over events.
