WCCA 2004 Finalists Posted

The finalists for the 2004 Web Cartoonists’ Choice Awards have been posted. With this milestone, the polls are now open for all registered web cartoonists (registration information can be found here) to determine this year’s winners. The fight for Outstanding Newcomer looks very interesting with Count Your Sheep, Questionable Content, Skirting Danger, and Sore Thumbs all vying for the title.

Melonpool Finale

After eight years on the Internet, Steve Troop’s webcomic, Melonpool, is reaching its finale. The regular updates are expected to stop at some point “in mid-June” (the characters are currently saying their goodbyes). Mr. Troop mentions that this is not an end to all things Melonpool, however. Not only is the possibility of returning to the comic left open (but only after “a year or so”), no fewer than two mysterious Melonpool projects are currently underway. Continue Reading

Kurtz Doesn’t Hate Keenspot

It’s official. Scott Kurtz (of PvP fame) does not hate KeenSpot. His latest news post is an open letter and blanket apology to the artists and administration of KeenSpot in response to “a horrible cycle of message board flame-wars, hurtful words, and general bad feelings”.

Let’s hope that this is an earnest first step towards healing a big rift in our creative community. Continue Reading
